Scott Wiegand – It is said the blood of Sasquatch runs through his veins. His family has claimed they found him as a child wandering the California backwoods, shaved him down & called him boy. Somewhere between the trees and civilization Scott developed a passion for great craft beer. It may have been while archiving Sierra Nevada Bigfoot vintages with his college roommate and comparing & contrasting back when there was a thin line between bullshit and real craft beer that he realized taste mattered. Passion mattered. We felt the Craft Beer Revolution was upon us and there was a simple choice. Join the Rebellion or fall in line with the Empire. This passion has led him to a successful career in the Craft Beer Industry, promoting quality craft beer in the burgeoning Southern California market again and again as we have kick-started the sleeping giant. With almost a decade of craft beer sales & distribution experience, Scott is now at the helm of Wiegand Family Distribution pushing forward all things craft and all things awesome. Bring the thunder. Bring the beer.
Lena Wiegand – It all started an eternity ago in high school where Scott and I first met. In the twenty years since, we’ve come a long way from those early awkward teenage days. Scott has always had a special affinity for craft beer – even back in the 90’s when it wasn’t quite as popular as it is today.
Over the years, I’ve accompanied him on countless excursions throughout Southern California seeking out the best craft beers the region has to offer. Each and every find felt like a special treat. We would excitedly present our loot to our closest friends, reveling in the pure satisfaction of good friends and good beer. Back then we treated it like it was our first born, worshipping the first cold sip, it felt like liquid gold. In fact, we spent most of our pre-children life soaking in the Beer Community, leaving me with the most cherished memories of Oktoberfest and Tap Takeovers.
There was never a dull moment, we had the freedom to explore and taste what the world had to offer. Now as parents, while our priorities have shifted – trading in those cozy Saturdays at a pub for a day at the Arboretum – our love of great craft beer endures and continues to grow with us. It is in this spirit that we decided to establish Wiegand Family Distribution.
Craft beer has been a faithful and comforting sidekick through our long journey to the present. I am beyond honored to be a part of the Beer Community and look forward to building something our family and friends can be proud of. I hope we are able to embark on this journey together, bringing great beer to the wonderful people of Southern California.
John Kennedy – Cheers everyone! My name is John Kennedy (if you ask what my middle name is I won’t tell you) and I am a So-Cal native living in Whittier for the past 16 years. I fell for the craft beer world about 8 years ago when the quality craft brews found their way into Uptown Whittier at places like The Bottle Room and The 6740.
My passion for craft beer has led me to become an avid home brewer for the past 6 years or so. I enjoy all the experimental and slightly scientific nuances that are part of brewing my own beer. Currently fermenting at a toasty 90 degrees is a sour mashed saison!
My passion for craft beer has been an amazing adventure that has brought, and hopefully will continue to bring, lifelong friends and experiences that I will always treasure.
John Mooney – Home Brewing, Drinking, Talking. John has been doing all these things with Craft Beer since he’s legally been allowed to. From serving quality beer, curating restaurant tap lists, and selling beer it has always been with Craft. He’s looking forward to cracking some fermented glory with you!
Arristides Olmedo – My name is Arristides. How is that for a tongue twister? I go by Arris (like Paris!), to help people out. After over a decade in the wine industry, I’ve made the leap over to hops. I’ve worked for big corporations as well as small businesses and the only thing that doesn’t change is my willingness to go above and beyond for customers. That trait has kept me in the distribution industry for so long. I have a lot to learn about craft beer and am enjoying every glass as learning experience. A nice cold craft beer always completes each adventure in life!
Alfonso Santoyo Jr. – Zicke zacke, zicke zacke, hoi, hoi, hoi! My name is Alfonso, but friends call me Fonz. I’m new to the Craft Beer Distribution industry but I’ve enjoyed drinking quality brews for quite a long time! I also run marathons and triathlons. One of my favorite race memories is running the Los Angeles Marathon on St. Patrick’s Day and drinking beers while on the route. Some people say I’m more interesting than that guy in the Dos Equis commercials, others say I’m as cool as that dude from Happy Days. I say I’m just a guy with a beard that likes to have a good time with friends.
